01The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Redline, a student-run project based in Delhi, for using the Redline Android app and redlineapp.in. By creating an account you accept them and our privacy policy. Redline is in an invite-only beta: things will change and sometimes break, and we'll be upfront when they do.
02Who can use it
- You must be 18 or older.
- One account per person. Keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for what happens on your account.
- Your username must not impersonate someone else or a brand you don't represent.
03Your spots and your content
You keep ownership of the photos, captions and comments you post. You give Redline a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, resize, blur, display and distribute them inside Redline (the app, the website and share cards you create), only to run the service. The licence ends when you delete the content, apart from copies in backups that roll off within 30 days and the copy kept with a report about it (evidence for moderators, kept for a year after the report is resolved; see the privacy policy).
Model training (optional, off by default). If you turn on "Help train India's car-recognition model", you also let Redline use the photos and labels of your spots whose car ID was confirmed to train and test Redline's own car-recognition models. Only the photo as stored, with your blur applied, and its labels are used, never your exact location, capture time, username or account details (the privacy policy lists exactly what's exported). This permission covers training sets built while the setting is on; switching it off (Settings → Research in the app, account menu → Model training on the website) ends it for every later set. A model already trained isn't retrained. We don't sell or license your photos to anyone else.
When you post, you confirm that:
- you took the photo, or you have the right to post it. No photos lifted from Instagram, forums or other people;
- it's a real car you saw, identified as best you can;
- you've blurred number plates and faces that identify someone, and you'll blur or remove them if anyone asks.
04Community rules
The scene works because people trust each other. On Redline you must not:
- stalk, track or try to locate a person, their home, or where a particular car is kept;
- harass, threaten, dox or abuse anyone, including in comments;
- post someone else's photos as your own, or post nudity, violence, hate or anything illegal;
- promote street racing, stunting on public roads or other dangerous driving;
- spam, post ads disguised as spots, or game rarity and points (fake locations, duplicate photos, multiple accounts);
- scrape Redline, probe it for weaknesses, or interfere with how it runs.
Be decent at meets too. An event on Redline doesn't make it legal to break traffic rules getting there.
05Reports, blocks and moderation
- You can report any spot, comment or user, and block anyone. A blocked user can't see your spots, comments or profile, and you won't see theirs.
- A spot reported by three different people is hidden automatically until a moderator reviews it.
- A report keeps a copy of what was publicly shown at the time, as evidence, even if the content or account is deleted later. The privacy policy says what's in it and how long it's kept.
- Moderators can remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these terms, with or without notice depending on how serious it is. If you think we got it wrong, write to our contact email (it will be listed here before the public launch) and we'll look again.
We're not obliged to monitor everything posted, and we can't promise we'll catch every problem.
06Rarity, points and leaderboards
Rarity tiers, points, ranks and logbook progress are worked out by our server and can change if we fix a mistake, remove a duplicate or re-identify a car. Epic and Legendary points count once other users (or a moderator) confirm the car's ID, and go back to pending if the ID is disputed. They're for fun and bragging rights: they have no cash value and can't be sold or transferred.
07Events and promoted listings
Events are listed by us from organisers' public information. The organiser runs the event, sets the rules and price, and is responsible for safety, tickets and refunds. Redline isn't the organiser and isn't a party to any ticket you buy. Check details with the organiser before you go, especially for track days.
A spot taken at a listed event's venue while the event is on joins that event's gallery once the event has ended, so others can see it was taken there (details in the privacy policy).
Organisers may pay to promote an event. A promoted event is always labelled “Promoted”, on the map and everywhere else it appears, and promotion never changes the order of events.
08The beta, changes and ending
The service is provided “as is” while in beta. We may change features, reset demo content, or pause the service. We'll update these terms from time to time; if a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it applies, and the version at the top of this page will change.
You can stop using Redline and delete your account at any time. We may close accounts that break these terms.
09Liability
To the extent the law allows, Redline isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, for content posted by users, or for events run by others, and our total liability to you is limited to ₹1,000. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under Indian law. You agree to compensate Redline if a claim arises from content you posted in breach of these terms.
10Law, grievances and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at New Delhi have jurisdiction. For any complaint about content or these terms, write to our contact email (it will be listed here before the public launch). We aim to acknowledge within 24 hours and resolve within 15 days.
